The Wichita Skatepark (about 12,045 square feet of pure concrete) features two distinctly different areas. The "Bowls Area" consisting of three concrete bowls and the "Urban Landscape" area, featuring an assortment of street style elements. The entire skateboard park is a 100% skateable landscape.
Concrete Bowls
The Urban Landscape
With unique features such as, its location under the Kellogg overpass; all-concrete construction; professional design by Wally Hollyday and California Skateparks; and urban landscape; the skateboard park is described as a destination park by many of the local skateboarders. Additional features include: shaded parking lot and picnic tables.
The skateboard park is free and open to the public between dawn and dusk. Pads and helmet are not required, but strongly recommended.
Although the address is off St. Francis, parking to the skatepark is located off Emporia (718 S. Emporia). Take note that Emporia is one way northbound and St. Francis is one way southbound.
The least confusing route to the park is to take Kellogg downtown to the Washington exit. Take Washington north to Waterman. Go west on Waterman to St. Francis and head south. Go south on St. Francis (and under the highway) to Orme and head west on Orme. Head one block west to Emporia and go back North to the entrance on your right, under the highway.
