Wichita public safety is at risk.
If you feel that Wichita tax dollars should be prioritized to protect you and those you love, please take a moment to visit our site.
The City of Wichita is currently preparing next year’s budget. That makes NOW the best time for your voice to be heard.
Wichita is nearly 60 square miles larger today than it was 30 years ago but surprisingly it is currently being served by fewer commissioned firefighters and only two more firehouses than in 1976. This is a frightening thought considering that the Wichita Fire Department responded to 32,444 more alarms in 2006 than it received 30 years prior.
The Wichita Fire Department is typically the first responders to not only fires but also medical emergencies and accidents. Current fire department resources are being spread too thin to consistently meet the 4-minute ideal response time necessary for providing the best chance at saving lives. With local firehouses on call to serve across the city, there is no guarantee that your neighborhood station will be available when needed.
Please do not wait until you need help to realize that the Wichita Fire Department is under-staffed and under-funded. Learn the truth now at saveourfirefighters.com and let our city officials know that public safety is too important to cut costs.
After all, if you don’t save our firefighters…who will save you?
