AboutDescription of Services

Acupuncture – is the insertion of very fine needles on the body’s surface in order to influence physiological functioning of the body, through the energy force running through it along pathways called meridians. This ancient practice is over 5,000 years old and was developed and refined in China and holds to the belief that a person’s health is influenced by the flow and balance of this energy force…or qi (pronounced chee). The World Health Organization recognizes Acupuncture as an effective treatment approach for post-operative pain, nausea and diarrhea, insomnia, anxiety and panic disorders. The National Institute of Health is also finding acupuncture may be helpful in treating addiction, stroke rehabilitation, headaches, fibromyalgia, myofascial pain and osteoarthritis.

APO E — is a breakthrough in changing cholesterol, weight, heart and Alzheimer’s disease using the body’s own genes. This service includes blood testing to help determine your APO E gene type, then provides an individualized healthy eating plan to help maintain heart health and prevent serious illness.

Bio Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy – bio-identical hormones are manufactured to have the same molecular structure as the hormones made by a woman’s own body, as opposed to the more common synthetic hormones that are intentionally different. After lab testing and evaluation, bio-identical hormones can be matched individually to each woman’s needs.

Chinese Medicine – is a process of evaluating signs and symptoms and relating them to one another to reveal how they form patterns of harmony or disharmony. Each symptom or sign has meaning only in relationship to other signs and symptoms and to the whole of your mind/body/ spirit. This process of examination reveals which of the Eight Fundamental Patterns of disharmony are at work and what type of disharmony of the organ systems and channels you may have, and a healthcare plan can be instituted which may include Chinese herbs, acupuncture or other modalities.

CranioSacral Therapy – is a gentle, hands-on method of evaluating the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord and improve the functioning of the central nervous system. It is effective for health problems associated with migraine and other headaches, TMJ, brain and spinal cord injuries, chronic pain conditions, post-traumatic stress disorder, some learning disabilities, stress and tension-related problems.

Ear Stapling – for weight loss and smoking cessation. A small, surgical stainless steel staple is strategically placed at key ear acupuncture points to provide the effect of appetite suppression and reduce nicotine cravings. Other benefits include relief of TMJ, tension, stress and headaches; the staples remain in the ear for several months providing long term benefits.

Holistic Health Consultation – through a combination of physical exam, verbal and written communication, and lab work when indicated, our holistic nurse practitioner partners with the client to provide an individualized plan of healthcare. These assessments are used to intake data that lead to learning more about the physical, emotional, mental spiritual sources for symptoms of stress, pain, and anxiety. Common problems that can be helped are stress, anxiety, pain, grief, high blood pressure and cholesterol and immune system disorders.

Lymphatic Drainage – is a subtle hands-on system of maneuvers to assess the lymphatic system and simulate wave-like movements to activate fluid systems in the body. The proper functioning of the lymphatic system is critical to our body’s ability to detoxify, regenerate tissues, stimulate the immune system and prevent an unhealthy accumulation of excess body fluids due to surgery, poor circulation, sprains, etc. Excellent adjunctive therapy for post - mastectomy, lumpectomy or other invasive surgeries that result in lymphadema or generalized swelling.

Mei Zen Cosmetic Acupuncture – is a holistic, natural and comprehensive skin rejuvenation program designed to restore and rejuvenate the skin by stimulating the production of collagen and elastin. It is an excellent alternative to surgery or botox injections. Some benefits include reduction and softening of wrinkles, firmer skin and jaw line, vibrant and more even skin tone, increased energy and sense of well being. Practiced by a nationally certified acupuncturist.

Naturopathic Medicine – is a distinct primary healthcare profession, emphasizing prevention, treatment and optimal health through the use of therapeutic methods and substances which encourage the person’s inherent self-healing process, the vis mediacatrix naturae.

Therapeutic Touch – is a gentle nursing procedure that uses the hands with intention to promote relaxation and comfort. Touch may or may not be used as this process primarily helps restore balance within an individual at a subtle energetic level.

Therapeutic Massage – stretches the ligaments and tendons, keeping them supple and young. Therapeutic massage reduces stress, both emotional and physical, and is suggested in a regular program for stress management. It also aids in the recovery from muscular strain, improves muscle tone and promotes digestion.

Yoga – is a philosophy and exercise system that combines movement and simple poses with deep breathing and meditation to promote healing and relaxation, to reduce fatigue, and to increase strength, flexibility and balance. We currently offer a variety of daytime, evening and Saturday classes including individual sessions available by appointment. Class options include Yoga Basics, Hot yoga and Flow yoga.

Zero Balancing – is a hands-on body/mind system designed to align body energy with the body’s physical structure; it represents the integration of Eastern views of energy with Western views of science. ZB helps to release deeply held tension that develops from chronic stress and pain by establishing a therapeutic state of relaxation. Promotes clarity that can aid one’s decision making process and help establish new, productive patterns of behavior and assists with integration and transformation required in the healing of illness and trauma.
