This unique revitalized shopping area complete with antique street light fixtures and curb-side parking, is filled with wonderful cafes, art, and eclectic stores ranging from bicycles, scooters and motorcycles to interior floor coverings, wall finishes and murals, to hand-made hats, yarns, clothing –and the arts…from clay works and oil paintings to dance! There is something for everyone. Historic Delano is located west of the Arkansas River, which was Wichita’s earliest settlement area. Delano Business District runs primarily along Douglas Avenue from McLean to Seneca, this area is just west of the Arkansas River and Greater Downtown Wichita, and is just ½ mile north of HWY 54 with easy access. Close to “The Museums on the River”: Wichita Art Museum, Cowtown, Botanica – Wichita Gardens, Mid-American All Indian Center and Exploration Place., it is also home to Lawrence Dumont Stadium – home of the Wichita Wing Nuts baseball team.
Special events include “Delano Days” and unique events in May during Wichita River Festival. The last Friday of each month is “Final Friday Art Crawl”. Visitors can ride the trolley from art gallery to art gallery enjoying festivities, food and music - the sights and sounds of Wichita.
